    Søren Wichmann
    【作者简介
Søren Wichmann is a Danish linguist currently employed as a Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Tübingen, Germany, and as Director of the Laboratory of Quantitative Linguistics, Kazan Federal University, Russia. Since obtaining a Ph.D. in Native American Languages and Cultures from University of Copenhagen in 1996, he has held positions in Denmark, Mexico, Germany, and the Netherlands. In particular, during 2003-2015, he worked in the Linguistics Department of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Leipzig, Germany.
Early in his career, Wichmann specialized in Mesoamerican languages and writing systems, but he then increasingly focused on more general topics relating to quantitative methods in historical linguistics and language typology. His around 140 published research articles reflect a broad range of cross-disciplinary interests and have appeared in journals such as PNAS, Journal of the Royal Society Interface, Language, Annual Review of Anthropology, Human Biology, and Communications in Computational Physics. Another 5 monographs and 8 edited volumes are devoted to topics in typology and descriptive and historical linguistics of Mesoamerican languages. Since its inception, Wichmann has been a major driving force behind the Automated Similarity Judgment Program, which is constituted by a lexical database covering around 2/3 or the world’s languages and a set of methods for inferring aspects of the world’s linguistic prehistory from these word lists.
Wichmann has served as a project referee for the national science foundations of the United States, Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, and Mexico, as well as for the European Research Council. He has also served as reviewer for more than 50 different journals, including multidisciplinary journals such as Science, Nature, and PNAS, and journals from many different fields, such as linguistics, physics, computer science, anthropology, biology, and psychology. In 2011 Wichmann founded the journal Language Dynamics and Change and has served as its General Editor up to the present. (责任编辑:admin)
